Organizations
Associations, community nonprofit groups, and small businesses have a lot in common. They typically communicate and schedule events within groups such as a board of directors, staff, volunteers, committees and their community. iZoca provides organizations a unique communications and scheduling solution to keep everyone up to date on events and activities.
iZoca groups can be created for each segment within an organization. Group privacy settings are determined by the group administrator. The administrator invites members to the various groups to keep them informed of events and information.
Example Organization: Empire State Youth Orchestra, Albany, NY
Empire State Youth Orchestra, Albany, NY
“Empire State Youth Orchestra, Inc. (ESYO) is an umbrella organization consisting of nine performing ensembles for highly talented youth in the greater Capital Region of New York. The ensembles present over 30 public concerts - many free - each season. ESYO also has an instrument training program for inner-city students in Albany, Schenectady, and Troy. This performing arts group created a public group on iZoca to tell their community about upcoming performances, auditions, and important events. They also created a group to manage internal communications and a series of additional groups. The following is a sample of the groups the Empire State Youth Orchestra created on iZoca to keep everyone informed and connected:

Groups
Fitness organizations, book clubs, neighborhoods, families and other affinity groups have common needs which include having discussions and sharing information among their members. Sometimes they want information available to the public and other times they want their information private. iZoca makes it easier to schedule and share events.
The following are a few features available to all groups on iZoca:
- Calendar- the iZoca group calendar is unique to each group. All of the events from a group calendar can “roll up” to a member’s personal iZoca calendar.
- Discussions- Group members can create and partake in discussions. Any event that is created on a group calendar can have a discussion associated directly with the event.
- Photos- Group members can create an album, upload their photos and share them with their group.
Example Group: Blue Star Mothers of the Capital Region, NY
Kay Moody, Blue Star Mothers of the Capital Region, NY
“We're a support group for families whose children are either active duty military or have been honorably discharged.
We are a 501 (c) 3 non-profit charity and a chapter of Blue Star Mothers of America, Inc., a congressionally chartered organization which started during World War II. We provide support to each other, our military children, our troops, and our veterans.
Our kids are in harm's way every day and being able to communicate with each other in a way a non-military mom wouldn't understand is a life-line to us.”

Individuals
When a person joins iZoca there are several tools available to them. Each member has their own dynamic personal calendar they can use to create private events. If they decide to join a group, all the events from the group they join can populate their personal iZoca calendar (see Calendar). An iZoca member can create their own group, for any reason, and invite others to join. They can search and join groups that are found in the iZoca directory and create customized profiles for each of their groups. Members can connect with other iZoca members and exchange private messages. iZoca members can join or create as many groups as they want to stay connected.

Calendar
At the heart of iZoca is a dynamic calendar that provides people unique ways to stay up to date. Members of iZoca can choose to receive their personal calendar on a number of different platforms and devices such as iPhone, Google and Yahoo calendars, and Outlook. Once the connection is made your application or device will be continually updated with the latest upcoming events from the groups in which you have subscribed.
You can also send events from other calendars like Google and Yahoo to a calendar in iZoca. Additionally, many websites, such as Apple, have calendars for sports teams, special holidays and other events that are created in an iZoca compatible format.
iZoca calendars have many of the features that you would expect from an online calendar and a lot more:
- Roll Up- View events from all the groups you join on iZoca in your own personal iZoca calendar
- Get your calendar on the go- Send your personal iZoca calendar to iPhone, Google or Yahoo calendars, Outlook and other compatible applications and devices.
- Import a calendar- Subscribe to a calendar from Apple and other sites to get US holidays, sports and entertainment schedules and a variety of other calendars.
- Save an event- Save specific events to Outlook and other applications.
- RSVP- Know who is and who is not attending an event.
- Recurring Events- Options like daily, weekly and monthly recurring events to eliminate multiple entries.
- Discussions- Discuss an event through a linked discussion with members of your group.
- Public Calendar- A group administrator can use iZoca to help promote their events by making them public and searchable in the iZoca directory. You can also link to your iZoca calendar from your own website and encourage people to join your iZoca group.
