Web 2.0 Company iZoca, Inc. Appoints George Ehinger to Board of Directors
An innovative social networking platform designed to organize lives, appoints publishing, television and internet executive.
Albany, NY (PRWEB) August 5, 2008 -- iZoca Inc., a revolutionary social networking platform designed to organize lives, has announced the election of George Ehinger, a leader in high-tech media, to its board of directors.
Ehinger is currently president of Beam Reach, Inc., a Saratoga Springs, NY, firm providing angel investment and business advisory services to early stage companies. He comes to iZoca with over 20 years experience in senior executive roles in the publishing, television and internet industries.
iZoca founder and CEO Jeff Goronkin is honored to have Ehinger on board. "George's enthusiasm, coupled with his years of experience, will enhance the breadth of combined knowledge of our board of directors and our team. He plans to play an active role within our organization and we greatly look forward to his involvement."
During the boom and bust cycle of Web 1.0, Ehinger served as senior vice president of the San Francisco-based cable television channel TechTV which was originally launched by tech publishing giant Ziff-Davis as ZDTV. TechTV was revolutionary in its use of the internet to build community and provide unique and valuable advertising solutions to a traditional TV model.
Ehinger served as vice president of the New York City based Scholastic, Inc., in the early 1990's and led the turn around efforts of a fledgling magazine, Home Office Computing. Over the course of the next five years, he turned the money losing property into the highly profitable Scholastic Soho Group, which published multiple magazines, newsletters and websites targeting technology reliant small business owners.
Ehinger is looking forward to serving on the iZoca board of directors. He said, "The minute I saw iZoca I was intrigued by the possibilities of the platform. iZoca will completely change the way people organize and communicate with one another because it is designed with groups as a focal point instead of individuals. This is a fundamental shift in social media which will be embraced by internet users of all ages and levels of sophistication."
Ehinger began his career with MCI Telecommunications in New York City. During his eight-year tenure, the company grew from $500 million in sales to over $5 billion.
Companies that Beam Reach has either advised or invested in include: Revision3 -- the first TV Network exclusively distributed on the internet; Logical Image -- an image based diagnostic tool for the health care industry; and Skyworks -- an online game developer.
