Stories from Bloggers Here in the Capital Region
-
By Ryan Hanley - Thu, Apr 29 - 4 replies

I would love to hear some success stories, or even trials failed with a good lesson, from bloggers here in the Cap Region.
I maintain a blog http://www.RyanHanley.com which focuses on Insurance Tips for Consumers. I try to educate people (with as much humor as Insurance discussions allow) without there being the creepy "Buy From Me" vibe to every post. I've had decent success but it has been over a year and things are growing very slowly... Growing (Key Word) but slowly. I'd love to hear from some people who have seen success in their blog. Or just trade some War stories...
What you got?

Google Buzz

Has everyone seen the announcements about Google Buzz?
What are the early opinions; revolutionary or unimportant?
The early posts I've seen written, compare it to a email version of Facebook status or Twitter feed. Technically, it looks slick, but I'm curious what its impact on "social networking for professionals" will be?

How is this site and better/different than ning.com?

I am just not seeing it. How about pre loading the site with NYS FOIL content (from a content value perspective, I mean egad... it's albany...)
What about a feature/function request forum?
anyway... a quick venn analysis shows that this is not a magic quadrant site re what is already out there, so what's the USP?

Well, NORAD seems to think so! Select this link to learn more and track Santa's journey around the world on Christmans Eve: http://www.noradsanta.org/en/video.html
Of course, it would not be the same without a plug in from Google so here's the link for that too: http://m.google.com/p/santatracker/index.html?dc=gorganic
So, what do you think? Does this prove Santa is does exist??

Sorry I just got home guys; it is so hard during the week for me to get out early. I think people plan things that I just have to do when they know (they don't really) that I have somewhere to be. Maybe next time...hey did you know it was cold out?

What ever happened to Friendster?!
-
By Jeff Goronkin - Tue, Dec 22 - 0 replies

Some social networking sites have a way of sticking around. Back in the early days Friendster was all the rage, but only in the media. Internal conflicts and investor issues were rampant at Friendster. The social networking website was quickly surpassed by MySpace and then later, Facebook. Friendster went through some tough times but grew slowly over the years in California with the Asian population and has seen most of it's growth come from users in other other countries- especially China.
After being in business for 7 years they are scheduled to be sold this month for at least $100 million dollars. I can't wait to buy the book!
