    Yoga Night

  • By Kasey Weidman - Mon, Jun 07 - 7 replies

  • Hi All! I am wondering if anyone would be interested in a Yoga Night sometime during the last week in June. I have the best Yoga teacher in the world (at least I think so) and she would be willing to come lead us through some relaxation flows, which I know we all need! :) Please let me know if this would be something you're interested in and what nights are better for you. If there's enough interest, I'll pursue it further. Thanks!

    Great quote!

  • By JuliAnn Goronkin - Fri, May 28 - 2 replies

  • Child of mine, I will never do for you that which I know you can do for yourself. I will never rob you of an opportunity to show yourself your ability and talent. I will see you at all times as the capable, effective, powerful creator that you've come forth to be. And I will stand back as your most avid cheerleading section. But I will not do for you that which you have intended to do for yourself. Anything you need from me, ask. I'm always here to compliment or assist. I am here to encourage your growth, not to justify my experience through you.

  • By Kasey Weidman - Tue, May 18 - 1 reply

  • Hi Ladies! Just wanted to pass along the "Dress to Impress" Gala that is happening before the midnight opening of Sex and the City 2 on the night of Wednesday, May 26. It's at the movie theater in Clifton Park Center, starts at 10:00 pm and goes until the 12:01am showing of SATC2. Cost is $35 (includes movie ticket) and is for the "Stars of Hope" charity. There will be refreshments, goody bags, mini-facials, and prizes. Cocktail attire required, and we were told men in tuxedos would greet us at the door. :) Nicole and I already bought tickets if anyone else would like to join us you can pick them up at the theater box office. I know it's a week night, but c'mon, we're only young once, right?

    Donating a crib

  • By Stephanie Mansfield - Thu, May 13 - 0 replies

  • Hi everyone!!
A teacher at my daughters school approached me because she knows I have lots of mommy friends and she has heard alot about our group from POP coverage. She approached me because she has a family with a baby who is in a crib that is no longer safe to sleep in and can not be used. If any of you ladies know anyone who is willing to donate of who is looking to get rid of a crib please let me know. I have a brand new mattress that I'm giving them. Thanks so much and hope to see you all soon.

    :) Stephanie

Passing along an email about a look out for a strange man

  • By Shanley Alber - Tue, May 04 - 1 reply

  • Since most of us live in Clifton Park, I wanted to pass along this email that a mother from Lucas's daycare forwarded to me...

    Hi Everyone,
Daniel's preschool teachers alerted us today to a local situation. The state police have become involved already, but here is a copy of an email, with the original detail, from a parent in Park Lane Estates across from Clifton Commons...

    Hello All,
I am writing to let you know on Wednesday afternoon Damon saw a middle aged man on a white bike, in front of our house taking pictures of our girls. When he tried to approach the man, he quickly left on his bike. I filed a police report. The NYS Trooper asked that we please call 911 if anything like this happens again (and that we pass the word). I know some of you have had similar situations. Please be on alert and maybe we can catch this weirdo.
    Thanks,
    Melissa

Additonally, the teachers at Prince of Peace were told there have been similar reports of a man driving a white Jeep with Oregon plates behaving in a similar manner. Let's keep our sweeties safe...
    Take care,
    Donna

The many benefits of Power of a Purse!

  • By JuliAnn Goronkin - Mon, May 03 - 1 reply

  • Thank you to all who helped to make this year’s Power of a Purse campaign a huge success! It was a lot of work but as you could see from the smiles on so many faces – it was well worth it. Next year’s goal – less work for Tara!

I want to let all of you know how grateful I am work with such a fantastic group of women. One of the best things about this event for me personally is being able to provide such an awesome experience for my daughter Ayla. As many of you know, this was her second year working at POP. This event has become a highlight of her year. She felt so good about her efforts that she could not stop talking about the women at the Y and how happy they were with their purses and haircuts. One woman told her that she had been looking forward to this all year. Ayla was very impressed with the change in the women after receiving their purses and makeovers. She noticed that they stood up taller, walked prouder and had huge smiles on their faces. It is so wonderful that at 11, she has had the opportunity to be a part of a group like ours, working towards a common goal of benefiting others in our community and seeing the impact of that effort so beautifully expressed. She asked me last night if she could join Mothers & More! I hope that we can continue this campaign and others like it for many years so that (in addition to the obvious benefits to our community) those of you with young daughters will have the opportunity to share experiences like this with them.
