Outside of the Box
When “Buck the Status Quo” is CoolWhen is bucking the Status Quo cool? If you’re self employed, all the time! Folks, how often do you have the opportunity to create the reality you desire?
Well, if you’re reading this from the comfort of your office chair, behind your cubicle divider, being self employed may be the furthest (or closest) thing from your mind.
What does self employment have to do with Status Quo? E.V.E.R.Y.T.H.I.N.G.
I don’t know who is reading this or what station in life you’re currently mired. I don’t know if you’ve taken the plunge into self employment yet or not. But, what I do know is this: If you don’t change your life to mirror the reality that you desire, guess what? You’re going to get exactly what you’ve gotten up to this point.
Back to Status Quo…more importantly, back to bucking that Status Quo. If you’ve never bucked the Status Quo, gone (more) beyond your comfort zone, challenged ‘the way it’s always been’ to some degree, then you’ll only ever be an “A” student at best. Do you really want that?
I know, some are saying right now, “I though being an ‘A’ student was top of the pile?” Well, here is your first lesson in ‘Bucking the Status Quo.’
Folks, sh*t-can any grading system you know or you’re familiar with. This is where you leave Status Quo behind and forge your path. This is where your actions as a leader, entrepreneur, business owner, or even a cubicle watcher comes into play!
I can spout any number of power/motivators here, but I’ll spare you of the pep talk lingo and leave you with this final thought:
There are only two options open to your future as you Buck the Status Quo:
1. When your life becomes comfortable, start bucking
2. When you buck and things become uncomfortable, buck some more -

Hi Brian!! Thank you so much for posting your blog here. That's great! I really encourage anyone who is also writing a blog to post their posts here if they can...
So, I do agree, working for yourself is quite liberating and definitely allows you to go beyond boundaries to some degree.
But I do think you can also do this sort of thing, to a different degree, in a corporate setting. I was just having a conversation with a friend recently who works for a huge company. She has bucked the trend and pushed the boundaries of her organization to create terrific change for everyone. It took a lot of hard work and persistence, but perhaps because it was within the confines of a big company, it felt like an even bigger accomplishment when the change did occur.
I just thought I'd throw that out there.. Because it got me thinking when I heard her story...
Again.. keep posting your blog posts here on SW!!!
